Duane Banks has worked for the City of Russell for 26 years. He was appointed to the position of Electric Utility Director in 2006. Duane previously worked as the power plant superintendent, computer technician, electrical technician, and patrolman.
Duane currently serves as the President of the Kansas Municipal Energy Agency (KMEA) and on the board of directors for Kansas Municipal Utilities (KMU). Duane served on the KMEA power supply committee and was a past chair for the Energy Management Project 2. Duane has also served as a volunteer firefighter for 17 years.
Duane and his wife Kathy have six children; Dani, Kristi, Brandon, Jaidyn, Abi, and Ellie. They are also proud grandparents to their grandson Ryan.
