Connie Blanke Selected as the Russell Community Impact Award Winner for June 2025

The Russell Community Impact Award Committee is pleased to announce Connie Blanke as the distinguished recipient of the June 2025 Russell Community Impact Award. This award recognizes individuals, businesses, or organizations whose exceptional contributions have significantly enriched the fabric of the Russell community.

Connie's nomination describes her as a person known for her heart, humility, and unwavering commitment. This is evident in the numerous community organizations she leads and volunteers for. Connie is a proud and active member of Russell PRIDE, Russell Rotary, Russell Area Chamber of Commerce, Zeta Mu Sorority, and a past Chairperson for Prairiesta 2021. 

Connie's nomination stated, "These are not just roles she fills, they are extensions of who she is: selfless, sincere, and deeply rooted in the community she loves." Connie continually shows up, working to make things better for others. She does so with a smile.     

Connie also displays her passion for service through her active involvement in Otterbein Methodist Church as a Christian educator.     Thank you, Connie, for your devotion to our community and the countless hours you dedicate to moving our community forward!  

As the winner of the Russell Community Impact Award, Connie received a $250 donation to the non-profit of her choice. Connie chose Russell Pride, Inc in support of IDEA Works Maker Space as the recipient. Mayor Jim Cross and KRSL/KZRS Russell Radio Representative Travis Hendrix presented Connie with a $250 check for Russell Pride, Inc at the July 15, 2025, city council meeting.

Nominations for the Russell Community Impact Awards can be submitted online at www.russellcity.org or downloaded from www.russellcity.org or www.krsl.com. Additionally, nomination forms are available for pickup at the City Building, 133 W. 8th Street, or KRSL/KZRS Russell Radio, 1984 N. Main Street.
